Laerdal Medical Announces the Release of SimMan® ALS Simulator

High-quality, Realistic Training for Emergency Care Providers

Laerdal Medical, one of the leading providers of simulation solutions for healthcare, is pleased to announce
the release of their newest adult patient simulator, SimMan® ALS. Evolving educational needs coupled with the
availability of advanced technologies were the driving factors for developing this innovative solution for the
healthcare community.

SimMan ALS, built on the trusted SimMan® 3G platform, is designed to meet new challenges and facilitate the
growing demand for in situ training. SimMan® ALS provides a mobile, durable solution that will address the
training needs of pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency care providers - from basic assessment to advanced
life-support skills. Used with SimPad® PLUS or a Laerdal Learning Application - LLEAP PC, SimMan ALS can be
operated wirelessly for “on the move” simulation.

With its realistic patient presentation, SimMan ALS enables learners to accurately assess, diagnose, and treat a
stable patient to a critically ill patient. SimMan ALS can help strengthen skills in airway management, breathing
assessment, palpation and auscultation, fluid resuscitation, ECG interpretation, defibrillation, as well as
ultrasound assessment and diagnosis. This clinically realistic simulator can be used for the complete training
of the American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Course as well as a wide
range of clinical skills.

“SimMan ALS, as well as the other SimMan 3G simulators, helps provide a realistic training experience that will
improve clinical skills, communication and teamwork through simulation” said David Johnson, President, Laerdal
Medical. “Everyone at Laerdal is dedicated to our mission of helping save lives, and we truly believe SimMan
ALS is a key training tool that will improve simulation education for emergency care providers; ultimately saving
more lives.”

Striving for Continuous Improvement

ALS Simulator was introduced in 2005, providing an effective simulation-based training tool. While ALS
Simulator has been a reliable manikin, we must continue to evolve in order to support the current and future
training needs of the healthcare community. In the spirit of continuous improvement, Laerdal will retire ALS
Simulator as of March 31, 2016 and introduce SimMan® ALS. SimMan ALS boasts over 20 key improvements
including an automatic internal compressor, cyanosis linked to vital signs, anterior/posterior lung sounds, and
CPR measurement compliant with 2010-2015 guidelines. Although ALS Simulator will no longer be available
for sale, Laerdal will continue to offer its wide range of technical and education services, consumables and
accessories for current ALS Simulator customers through March 31, 2021.

A Family of Products to Support Training Needs

SimMan ALS, the newest addition to the SimMan 3G ‘family’, joins SimMan® 3G, SimMan® Essential, and
SimMan® 3G Trauma. Laerdal is confident that the SimMan 3G family of products meets the needs of
educators in a broad range of clinical domains. The SimMan 3G platform offers mobility, rugged design, CPR
measurement, clinical realism, and much more. From physicians and nurses to EMS professionals and military
medical personnel, the simulators from the SimMan 3G platform can help provide a quality simulation
experience to meet clinical training objectives.
