2013 Laerdal Australian SUN Meeting
Now a regular on the local simulation conference calendar Laerdal Australia hosted its annual SUN (Simulation User Network) meeting recently. Once again the event was held at the picturesque Gold Coast in Queensland.
Over the years there have been some wonderful international speakers and this year was no exception with Professor Barry Issenberg from the University of Miami and Angela Hope from the University of Huddersfield presenting at the 3 day meeting.
They teamed perfectly with local plenary speakers Michelle Kelly from UTS and Peter Morley from the Royal Melbourne Hospital and many other local speakers who presented on various topics. These sessions included planning for simulation, debriefing, curriculum integration, standardised patients and other sessions that focused on simulation in hospitals, nursing, perinatal and multi-disciplinary streams. Laerdal staff also ran sessions on Technical Services, Moulage and SimDesigner.
Once again the overall feedback from the meeting was very positive with delegates enjoying the networking opportunities, various interactive workshops and sharing best practice with the local and overseas speakers.
Thanks again to all those that were involved in presenting and a special thank you to the team at Robina Hospital who were involved in the opening simulation and Michelle Kelly for facilitating the debrief that followed. The video of this opening simulation and debrief can be viewed on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlDhnFsu2Zo and www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0KW_Mu4LOs.
