FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Wappingers Falls, NY – Laerdal Medical Corporation and the American Heart Association have released the American Heart Association ACLS Scenarios that run on the Laerdal SimMan patient simulator. The scenarios are pre-programmed and can be used to teach, reinforce and test the skills required on the latest American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support course.

The scenarios provide a solution for educators who want to expand their simulation-based educational program to include ACLS classes and ongoing education. Along with the scenarios, the product comes complete with learning objectives, scenario overviews, equipment checklists, and debriefing guides. The ACLS Scenarios provide an off-the-shelf solution, which saves time for instructors by facilitating introduction of the course into their curriculums.

Laerdal Product Marketing Manager Chris Devenny says, “The ACLS Scenarios are valuable educational tools that add new dimensions to traditional ACLS courses. ACLS instruction can be begin in the classroom, then move into a simulation environment with SimMan. When utilizing SimMan, students work in a team to develop the critical thinking skills required to be proficient in ACLS care.”

There are 31 scenarios included in the product, including five teaching scenarios, 22 core cases and four testing scenarios. The set includes a binder with resource materials; a CD with the scenarios programmed for SimMan software, an ACLS Instructor Manual and an ACLS Provider Manual.

These scenarios run on SimMan software, version 3.2. Customers below this version who wish to use the scenarios must upgrade their software. Customers can upgrade via a Backwards Compatibility Kit, available at no charge.
