Support 10,000 Happy Birthdays with Laerdal Global Health
Help save a life today
We are helping raise money for the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) to train and support Midwives in some of the world's poorest countries.
Our aim is to save the lives of 10,000 women and children in Malawi and Zambia.
Laerdal Global Health was established in 2010 as a not-for-profit sister company to Laerdal Medical. The company shares the same mission as Laerdal Medical of helping save lives, with a specific focus on helping save lives on the day of birth in low-resource settings.
By 2020, Laerdal Global Health aims to help save 400,000 more lives on the day of birth, every year.
Every day, 800 mothers die giving birth.
Every day, about 8,000 newborn babies die.
The majority of these deaths are preventable.
95% of the deaths occur in just 75 countries*, mainly located in Sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia.
Laerdal Global Health develops durable, simple, culturally adaptable, and affordable products and training programs to help train and equip birth attendants in low-resource countries. The products are offered on a not-for-profit basis to the 75 focus countries, and are implemented at scale through global partnerships and alliances.
In Tanzania, the Helping Babies Breathe program led to a reduction of 47% in early newborn mortality and 24% in rates of stillbirths.
