Educational Services
Laerdal offers a range of educational courses and training opportunities that are available for several skill levels from basic to advanced users and include products from SimMan 3G through to Nursing Anne. Courses are designed to increase your ability to effectively operate Laerdal simulators and to teach and evaluate learning objectives. Take home workbooks are also included as part of the course package.
Courses are held at Laerdal nominated sites in Australia and New Zealand or at your facility. For those who prefer a more tailored, one-on-one experience, Laerdal offers special options just for you. Our Simulation Specialists can assist with scenario development, customised instruction and/or provide consultative support for your clinical simulation lab.
Introductory Training for Patient Simulators
This basic course enables participants to assemble their simulators, operate the simulator’s user interface, program and run scenarios using an instructional design process. Participants develop two complete scenarios and receive worksheets and check lists for future scenario developments.
Scenario Programming for Patient Simulators
This course is designed for the advanced user who seeks additional skills programming scenarios. Participants learn scenario design using the Laerdal Scenario Programming Worksheet. Emphasis is placed on programming Trends and Handlers. Attendees must have attended an Introductory Training course or possess experience operating a Laerdal simulator.
Customised Instruction
This consultative service is ideal for groups that prefer personalised instruction at their facility. Educational Services specialists or external partners will assist in planning a tailored session to meet the specific needs of your organisation. This can include product training, scenario writing, simulation planning and management, and course facilitation and debriefing skills.
Custom Scenario Development
Available for all Patient Simulators helping you design, programme, validate, and implement simulation scenarios which match your organisation’s goals and learning objectives.
Teaching with Scenarios
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to install a Laerdal Scenario Package on a licensed PC and identify scenario learning goals and supporting material. Class time also includes identification of equipment needs, learner roles, and correct treatment parameters.
The course concludes with instruction and best practices for conducting a debriefing and guided reflection session that concentrates on maximising the learning experience for your students.
