Gretchen Matika
Gretchen Matika has been the Director of Operations at the Penn
Medicine Clinical Simulation Center since 2008.
This
22,000 square foot simulation-based training facility provides instruction to
physicians, students, and healthcare professionals from all across the
University of Pennsylvania Health System, the Penn School of Medicine, as well
as external institutions – all with the goal of improving patient safety.

Steve Donahue
Steve
Donahue is the Director of the Hartford Hospital Simulation Center and has been
utilizing simulation since 2001.
Steve is
nationally registered respiratory therapist who has practiced for over 20
years.
As a Respiratory Therapist, Steve held many roles - most notably a flight therapist,
as well as clinical specialist in cardiovascular service. He was a quality
improvement coordinator for the Division of Cardiology.

Alexis
Battista is currently the Manager of the Clinical Simulation Center at the
Washington Hospital Center, which manages 28 simulation programs and hosts over
5000 annual participants. She has
concentrated the past 5 years on integrating medical simulation into existing
education programs for pre-hospital, nursing and physician post-graduate
education. Her
interests include Obstetrical Simulation, Emergency Medicine Simulation &

Sandra K. Voll
Sandra Voll is Director
of the Clinical Learning & Simulation Center at Virginia Commonwealth
University, School of Nursing's Clinical Learning Center in Richmond Virginia. The center is doing a vast array of different types
of simulations, from high tech to low tech, highly complex for the last 3 and a
half years. Simulations have branched out to multi-disciplinary events
including the university medical center, School of Medicine, Physical Therapy,
School of Social Work, School of Pharmacy and more. She
received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio State and her Master of
Science degree from VCU, Medical College of Virginia. Sandra is
a Certified Nurse Midwife, Family Nurse Practitioner and Women‚ Health Nurse
Practitioner. |

Pamela Leonard, RN,
BSN, CCRN
Pamela received a BSN from The
Catholic University of America and is completing her MS in Health Services
Leadership and Management from the University of Maryland.
She brings over 15 years
experience in critical care nursing and management. She now enjoys the
challenge of integrating simulation training to all healthcare disciplines to
improve individual and team performance and ultimately improving patient
safety.
Pam established the first
simulation training center for MedStar Health and now
oversees the operations of several clinical simulation centers. Her
professional interest includes advocacy for medical simulation training through
AIMS (Advanced Initiatives in Medical Simulation) and integration
simulation training and education programs throughout healthcare organizations.

Tom has over 15 years of experience in the
Healthcare Simulation field. He has run thousands of simulation sessions amnd has a
strong background in Simulation curriculum development, scenario programming
and sim center operations. Tom also has designed or assisted in the design of hundreds
of simulation centers and nursing labs in the US and around the world.

In her role as Director of the nursing simulation center at the
University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, Angela assumes a host of diverse
and unique responsibilities. Primarily, she has oversight of curricular
development related to required simulation exercise for all undergraduate
nursing students enrolled in clinical nursing courses. These activities include
simulation exercises using high fidelity patient simulators, as well
as static mannequins, for all patients across the life span.

She is an Advanced Practice Clinical Nurse
Specialist at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. She was initially a LPN that returned to school her
for RN. She continued her education at Old Dominion University with final
degree of Master of Science in Nursing. She has experience in med-surg, pediatrics, home
health, education as well as management. She has implemented simulation at the
hospital and will have an article published in the May/June issue of Medical-Surgical
Clinical Matters on "Use of simulation in validating head to toe
assessment skills."
