Researching Clinical Skills: Showcasing Best Practice for Students & Practitioners

Following the successful ‘Third International Clinical Skills Conference’ held in 2009, a fourth conference will be held, convened by an International, multiprofessional steering committee and co-ordinated by the College of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing, Institute of Health Skills and Education, University of Dundee; in conjunction with the Centre for Medical & Health Sciences Education, Monash University. This conference will meet the needs of interprofessional researchers and practitioners involved in the development of high quality education in all aspects of the clinical skills.

Building on our experience and acknowledging delegate feedback, this conference program format will be altered to meet the needs of delegates and presenters. There will be scheduled workshops, plenary and concurrent sessions in the Main program from 0800-1500 hours, as well as the opportunity for Round Table Discussions available in the afternoons from 1500-1700 hours.

Aims of conference

The international conference is designed to:

• Provide a forum for debate on research on clinical skills teaching and learning.
• Showcase research and best practice on clinical skills education.
• Stimulate innovation in clinical skills research and development.
• Gather expert and beginner researchers for networking and the development of research and training and collaborations.
• Aid funding for research on clinical skills.
