Hillary Clinton launches new global development alliance
This new alliance will complement the Helping Babies Breathe alliance to help reduce maternal and child deaths in low resource settings with a broader set of interventions, and with a focus on 5-8 countries in Africa and in Southeast Asia.
New Survive & Thrive alliance comprises seven partners
The alliance partners are USAID, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Nurse-Midwives, The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Save the Children, Johnson & Johnson and Laerdal Global Health.
Laerdal Global Health will contribute to the new alliance with innovative product solutions that can increase the effectiveness of the prioritized interventions. The Laerdal Foundation has further set aside $1 mill, out of the total $10 mill earmarked for MDG 4 and 5 projects, for research projects related to the new alliance.
